Dim or Flickering Lights: A weak or failing alternator can cause flickering lights. If any lights flicker and become brighter while the RPMs are higher, that’s a sure sign of an ailing alternator.
Odd Noises: If the serpentine belt is loose and not engaging with the alternator, then the alternator will not be able to work.
Check Engine Light: A failing alternator is one of the first things that will trigger the check engine light.
Electrical Problems: If you have extra electrical or electronic equipment that isn’t working, it may not be getting power due to a weakening alternator.
